Lisa Foster, LCPC

Ms. Foster is a Deaf counselor, licensed in Illinois. She obtained her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Gallaudet University. Upon graduating from Gallaudet University, she worked as a therapist at UCSF Center on Deafness and as a school counselor at California School for the Deaf- Fremont before moving to Chicago. She has worked over 18 years as a clinical therapist for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Behavioral Health working with individuals, couples, families, and children. Additionally, she has participated in research funded by the Micheal Reese Health Trust, a 10 year collaborative health research project between Advocate and Sinai Health Systems providing education in Coping with Depression, Cardiovascular Disease, and managing Chronic Illness for Deaf Individuals in the community.

Over the years she has worked in multiple settings: schools, vocational workshops, and residential programs, providing individual therapy, group sessions, and case management, including services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Her training includes workshops in Solution Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR, trauma focused CBT, and DBT. She enjoys providing counseling and therapy services to Deaf clients of all ages from children to older adults addressing emotional and social issues that may arise at different stages of life. Her primary focus is listening to your story, helping you find your hidden strengths, and together finding strategies to build towards solutions, empowerment, wellness, and personal growth.
