Madie Davis-Shelton, LCSW-C

Ms. Davis-Shelton is a Deaf clinical social worker, licensed in the District of Columbia. She received her Master’s degree from the School of Social Work & Community Planning at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and holds a D.C. license in Marriage & Family Therapy. She has worked in various mental health settings, including the Mental Health Center for the Deaf in Laurel, MD, the Developmental Counseling Center at Northwest Campus/ Gallaudet University, and Family Services Foundation in Landover Hills, MD. In her work with adults and adolescents, she addresses a wide range of psychosocial, mental health, judicial and forensic issues. Her experience as the mother of two CODA daughters gives her a unique insight.

Ms. Davis-Shelton, whose home state is New York, has over 35 years of diverse counseling and therapy experience. She previously worked in the psychiatric inpatient unit at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Washington, DC. In addition to her work at Deaf Counseling Center, she is a social worker for DC Department of Behavioral Health in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Unit. She is a member of National Association of Social Work. She is one of the founders of Deaf Abused Women’s Network (D.A.W.N.). Throughout her career, Ms. Davis-Shelton has often served as the only ASL-fluent facilitator and liaison for direct and interagency service provisions in DC.
